Problem: One of the most common complaints heard from office workers who use keyboard trays is that they continually hit their knees on the mechanism and its knobs. As a result, users tend to raise the tray to inappropriate heights, which in turn, elevates the shoulders, compresses the wrists and creates more of a likelihood of developing discomfort and/or a cumulative trauma disorder. Solution: Details, a subsidiary of Steelcase, was one of the first companies to manufacture a knob free mechanism. Now there are many other companies following suit. To raise or lower the tray all the user has to do is lightly push or pull the tray in place. By pressing a small button the tray can be set in a tilt position. Problem: Vision issues are quite prevalent for computer users, particularly as workers get older. Many workers need a distance vision correction as well as a near vision correction. Using progressive lens that correct for both, can have challenges when using them for computer work and deskwork.
