Keyboards

There are a variety of keyboard options on the market. Some of these promote neutral posture by reducing wrist deviations and forearm pronation. Often the dramatically different looking keyboards also present hidden problems and when in doubt always ask an expert before ordering an item to be sure it will address your needs without developing other issues.

Trackballs and Mice

A selected variety should be provided for users as not all users have the same size hands or have the same inputting demands. Trackballs serve to reduce wrist deviation and static gripping postures and thus are recommended in the prevention and control of certain musculoskeletal disorders. Users should be able to use the trackball or mouse with either the right or left hand and should follow the "good fit" principle. The device should encourage neutral wrist and forearm posture. Trackballs should not be operated with the thumb because the thumb is very susceptible to developing an overuse syndrome.
