Janet L. DeLapp, MS, CDMS, CPE. Founder of Solutions Northwest, Inc. has melded her University of Wisconsin Vocational Rehabilitation education with applied ergonomics and disability case management experience since 1990. Janet is a Certified Professional Ergonomist and a Nationally Certified Disability Management Specialist. She is also certified in Oregon and Washington as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
Janet’s professional experiences have provided her with a special expertise resolving issues associated with disabilities in the workplace. Janet’s graduate degree in Human Factors/Ergonomics from the University of Idaho allows her to bring a targeted and practical problem solving approach to ergonomics for employers, attorneys, and individuals. Janet's successful business management allows her to apply her technical ergonomics and human factors training in a practical and common sense way for today's business environment. Janet's work is focused on ergonomic assessments, training, education and program development, as well as expert testimony in worker compensation, ADA accommodation and human factors.
John DeLapp, MS, CRC, ARM. John is a co-founding partner with Solutions Northwest, Inc. John has been providing vocational counseling and disability management consulting services for employers since 1984. John specializes in employability assessments, earning capacity evaluations and organizational development projects involving the structuring and implementation of modified duty/early return-to-work programs. John's education and experience in counseling, combined with his business and personnel management experience, gives him a unique set of skills for today's competitive business environment. John's hands-on experience providing case management and vocational rehabilitation services, combined with his employer consulting background, offers practical personnel loss control approaches that work. John is a Nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, is certified in Oregon and Washington as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and is certified Associate Risk Management professional by the Insurance Institute of America.
Vicki U. Newmaker, MS, CRC. Vicki has been providing vocational counseling and disability management consulting services for employers since 1998. She is a Nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and is also certified as a Long Term Disability professional. Vicki is a graduate of Utah State University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Social Work, and a Master's Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Vicki's professional experience includes managing workers compensation and long term disability claims for employers in several states, including Utah, Texas, and Washington. Throughout Vicki's professional career, she has always been able to establish a trusting and working relationship with both the employee and the employer. These skills support our mission to help people stay-at-work, not just return to work.
Carol Johnson, BS. Carol began providing the full range of vocational services to Washington industrially injured workers in 1990. Her experience assessing employability has focused primarily on individuals in western Washington and has given her an in-depth understanding of the labor market throughout the region. Combining her previous juvenile corrections experience with her work in the Welfare to Work Program in Oregon has given Carol a unique and virtually unparalleled understanding of how to overcome even the most challenging return to work barriers.
Carol's specialization in research, along with her real world experience, brings a welcome dimension to the diverse assessment and case management services offered by Solutions Northwest, Inc.
Chris Smilanich, Administrator. Chris has brought a wide variety of knowledge and skills in office management and administration to our team. Chris has 18 years of work experience in the behavioral medicine health system and has worked with injured workers, Labor and Industries, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, private vocation consulting service providers, and both state and private return-to-work programs. Her understanding of the injured worker’s journey to return-to-work enhances her ability to relate with those who are responsible for their care.
Chris’s understanding of customer and client needs, and knowing how to assist our clients in problem solving, helps Solutions Northwest maintain professional, courteous service delivery for clients and customers alike. Chris’ focus is on the day-to-day development of our business, providing support services to our clients and team members, and applying strong communication and people skills on a daily basis.
Andrea R. Sadler, MA. Andrea offers specific experience in working with industrially injured workers in the State of Washington, as well as a broad range of experiences involving mental health case management and needs assessment, planning, and monitoring of services targeting special needs families. Andrea has also worked as a case manager for juvenile offenders which always involved complex issues including substance abuse. These unique and demanding experiences have provided Andrea special insights into the vocational management of Washington workers compensation claims, and have proven her ability to bring individuals with divergent goals and agendas together for successful resolutions of issues.
Andrea’s Master's of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martins University, along with her undergraduate degree in Sociology, gives her the academic foundation to apply her experiences very successfully, and makes her a valued member of the Solutions Northwest team.
Celeste McLaughlin, BA, CPT. The knowledge, specialized training and experience Celeste brings to Solutions Northwest affords our clients the benefit of a serious minded professional skilled at effectively addressing individual ergonomic issues, as well as facilitating top-down organizational development activities. As an ergonomic consultant Celeste draws upon her business, anatomy, physiology and nutrition training she received while attending Evergreen State College as an undergraduate. Her advanced training in anatomy and physiology, training as a massage therapist, and having earned the Certified Personal Trainer Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) provides her with comprehensive knowledge of human movement science, functional anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, as well as functional assessment and program design training.
Celeste’s work experience as a corporate trainer and post-rehabilitation personal trainer adds to her understanding of what is required to assist both individuals and organizations transition through challenging issues to make positive, healthful changes. Celeste’s base in Portland, Oregon allows for her to offer expertise throughout the Willamette Valley and north to the greater Seattle, Washington area.
